From Jazz Influence to Feminine Escape: A Bathroom Transformation
Every great design story starts with a spark and for this full bathroom renovation, it came in the form of a video walkthrough of Jon Batiste’s bathroom. Yes, that Jon Batiste. My client sent me the clip with a note that read something like, “Can we do this?” And just like that, we were off to the races. (Kudos to her husband, by the way, for signing off on blush tile with zero hesitation—king behavior!)
Where it all started…
the AD photo that sparked our entire bathroom design. She saw it and loved it,.
The showstopper here is undeniably the handcrafted zellige-inspired tile in the dreamiest terracotta-blush tone. It gives warmth, texture, and just the right amount of vintage charm—think modern Moroccan spa meets cool jazz lounge. Once we locked in the tile, everything else started falling into place. Check out these before and after photos!
We sourced complementary pieces that honored the vibe but also made the space highly functional: a wood vanity with clean lines for a modern touch, matte brass fixtures for warmth, and a fluted glass shower partition to give privacy and personality. We layered in warm wood tones through the vanity and custom linen closet—practical, beautiful, and perfect for all the extra towels and backup skincare.
The result is a bathroom that feels warm, collected, and uniquely hers: a blend of modern contemporary with vintage soul, inspired by a jazz icon but reimagined for everyday luxury. Proof that even a scroll through AD can spark a design you’ll love living in every day!
